Review of choir singing and workshops at a special place in the midst of powerful nature
The Neumühle is located in D-66693 Mettlach-Tünsdorf (Saarland) in the midst of powerful nature. This place has been used intensively for meditation and seminars for many years and offered us an ideal environment to sing together, but also to go inward or to renew contact with living nature.
Choir singing: Pieces from the Vespers op.37 by Sergei Rachmaninov and the motet "Hosanna to the son of David" by Orlando Gibbons.
"During our meeting in the Neumühle, we familiarized ourselves with the first 7 movements of Sergei Rachmaninov's Evening and Morning Praise Op. 37 for a cappella choir from 1915 by singing. It was as if we were enveloped in these sounds, deeply immersed in an atmosphere of worship within colorful and multifaceted harmonies. This music tolerates a large choir. We had around 60 singers in May. The desire arose to gradually work on the other of the 15 movements of this fantastic choral work. The first opportunity to do this will be in Wiesbaden on November 23-24, 2024."
- Choir director Maarten Ophiel van Leer
Anchoring the voice in the body and improvising together
"Letting our voices resonate - deep down in the "sacred belly" of the Neumühle with its grounding energy and close to the water (wheel) was a contrasting, liberating experience. Liberating because we were able to use this transformative field and found our creative space in the room."
- Workshop leader Esther Knappe
The Sound of Silence - Meditation and Music
Our long-time friend, founder and board member of Music for Peace, Felix Idris Kunzang Baritsch, led this intensive seminar. Felix left this world only 2 months later, on July 27, 2024. May he now experience the most fulfilling sounds of the inner spiritual world.
Dances of Universal Peace
"The dances were well received, the three afternoons were beautiful and lively and full of warmth! It was wonderful when the whole choir danced for an evening: a real heartfelt encounter in joy and in deepening the attunement to the sacred music!"
- Workshop leader Josine Zon
Qigong in the afternoon break
"I was particularly fascinated by the deep silence in harmony with the elements that arose when practicing by the lake."
- Workshop leader Liesel Gierse-van Leer
